Recoleta Cemetery is often listed as one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world. After spending an afternoon wandering through the cobblestone streets lined with tombs I would have to agree. It's located in the prestigious neighborhood of Recoleta in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

Buried here is a "who’s who" of notable Argentinians - from politicians (including 26 Argentine presidents) to Nobel Prize winners and, of course, Argentina’s beloved Eva Peron in the Recoleta Cemetery.

The cemetery has over 6,400 mausoleums and is a crash course of architectural style through the ages. With marble statues and decorative iron gates this city of the dead is full of breathtaking art.

María Eva Duarte de Perón, better known as just Eva Perón or by the nickname Evita, was an Argentine politician, activist, actress, and philanthropist who served as First Lady of Argentina from June 1946 until her death in July 1952 - as the wife of Argentine President Juan Domingo Perón.

The tango is synonymous with Buenos Aires, and visitors have many opportunities to experience this passionate dance. Visitors looking for an authentic experience may wish to visit a milonga, where locals go dancing. They happen around the city every day of the week. The most interesting experience may be an open-air milonga where visitors can watch tango enthusiasts dancing in the street.

 Quick check in and we were seated and the food was better than we expected, steak was tender and medium rare like we requested with shared a bottle of complimentary Malbec that was very good. The waiters hustle & before we knew it the show started. 

Beautiful costumes, lively dancing and the Evita tribute was wonderful. The violinist was beyond incredible!!!

The Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral is the main Catholic church in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located in the city center, overlooking Plaza de Mayo, on the corner of San Martín and Rivadavia streets, in the San Nicolás neighbourhood.

Facing the Plaza de Mayo, the Metropolitan Cathedral is the Catholic Church's main site in Argentina, and is where Pope Francis, as Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio, used to perform mass before assuming office in the Vatican in 2013.

The Metropolitan Cathedral is without a doubt one of the most important buildings in Mexico City's historical center. Beyond its religious significance, it contains a summary of five centuries worth of Mexican art and architecture.

In Bergoglio's honor, the Cathedral now houses the Pope Francis Museum, which exhibits some of his personal and liturgical objects.

The Port of Montevideo, in the northern part of the Old City of Montevideo, Uruguay, is one of the major ports of South America and plays a very important role in the economy of Uruguay.

It is about a 5-minute taxi ride to the center of town. Metered taxis are usually available at the pier. Drivers frequently charge cruise passengers a flat rate from the pier to popular destinations.

The port of Montevideo is located in a bay, in the south of Uruguay, on the bank of the Rio de la Plata. Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay and is home to half the country’s population.
